A Rare Moment of Clarity at Xinjiang’s Department of Justice

The governmental organs responsible for dispensing justice in Xinjiang are not really known for their clarity – oftentimes, suspects are arrested and sentences passed without an even oblique public mention of either evidence or legal underpinnings. Nonetheless, a small article posted on the Xinjiang Department of Justice website on American weapon sales to Taiwan delivered a message that was clear, concise, and totally unequivocal. The title of the article was “China Vigorously Protests American Sale of $6.4 Billion of Military Equipment to Taiwan.” Hell, while I’m praising the clarity and genuis brevity of this article, why don’t I just paste the entire article’s content here.

Just fantastic! On one hand, this is brilliant, groundbreaking journalism. On the other hand, the writer’s rhetorical style does indeed remind me of pedagogical methods often used, with high efficacy, in Xinjiang’s institutes of higher learning. Either way, you’re gonna have to read it a few times to soak up all the little nuances and implications littered throughout the author’s message.

That is hilarious! At first I thought you were just joking, but indeed, this is the entire content of that article. I mean, it makes sense – if it carries so much meaning when stated once, how much more meaning could be implied if it were repeated 20 more times?

I hear Hillary, duly impressed by the weight of China’s eloquence, has canceled the sale of weapons to democracies the world over. Quote, “Centuries of progress toward freedom, representative democracy, and human rights the world over hold no candle to the repetition of an empire’s simplistic (but charming and aesthetically pleasing) claim to dominion. Good luck Taiwan!”
